CVBD WORLD FORUM
The CVBD World Forum is a working group of leading international experts with the mission to enhance knowledge and communication on companion animal vector-borne diseases for the improvement of animal, human, and environmental health.
Mission StatementUPCOMING MEETING
Between the 18th and 21st of May, 2025, the CVBD World Forum meets for the 19th time to present, discuss and work on the latest topics of companion vector-borne diseases. The meeting will be held in Prague, Czech Republic.
The overarching topic of this and the next year’s meeting is: One Health in action: Mapping & modelling companion animal vector-borne diseases. This year the focus will be on mapping and modelling of vectors and their pathogens based on more standard techniques; next year we plan to broaden the view to include newer strategies and tools such as AI.
To elucidate the ‘Mapping & Modelling’, two colleagues from the guest country, Kateřina Kybicová from the National Institute of Public Health and Iva Hammerbauerová from the Charles University in Prague will talk on Borrelia and Bartonella. Besides them, Agustín Estrada-Peña from Zaragoza will talk on modeling of tick abundance with a focus on improved predictability of tick-borne pathogens, and Dan Sonenshine from the US will talk on the spread and the mapping of vector-borne pathogens, here especially focusing on Spotted fever.
The further scientific program gathers submitted topics on tick distribution, tick microbiome, pathogen dynamics within the ticks, on leishmaniosis with aspects of clinical disease, immunology and diagnostics, but also on other vectors such as fleas and kissing bugs, on further vector-borne pathogens such as Babesia, Hepatozoon, Onchocerca lupi and on classical topics such as vector-borne pathogen epidemiology in long-term studies or new areas.
Soon you will find here a link to the CVBD collection in Parasites & Vectors, listing the papers submitted in the context of the CVBD World Forum meeting 2025.
